How we turned Fullstar’s best-seller into a hit for OTOTO

Branded/Essor already had the best vegetable chopper on AMZ

Our founders asked the creative team:

Could we repurpose it for OTOTO?

@ototo_design Meet Croc Chop! An insanely cute and functional collaboration between OTOTO Design and @FullstarKitchen. Tag a friend who would love one! #ototo #kitchengadgets #vegetablechopper #onionchopper #fullstarkitchen ♬ original sound - SpongeBob background music

And thus, Croc Chop was born!

Once our designers revealed Croc Chop, it was off to work translating the success of our Fullstar Vegetable Chopper into a brand-new OTOTO gadget. We wanted to position the product as a fun yet functional alternative to the sterile white vegetable choppers that dominated Amazon Marketplace.

Whereas Fullstar’s chopper already had an established history as a best-selling product and widespread trust, we had to prove that this cute product could also perform at a high level. So I brainstormed an editorial content calendar that incorporated demonstrational content with trending sounds.

The result? A sold-out hit

Croc Chop needed to stand out in a crowded consumer-product category. I helped translate the product's distinctive value proposition into launch creative designed for social discovery and sharing.

Our initial post about Croc Chop featured audio from SpongeBob SquarePants that was trending at the time and showed the product's functionality in quick, seconds-long clips. The post earned 390K views, 36.6K likes, 5,014 saves, and 7,769 shares. Initial inventory sold out within the first week.
